February’s Flush & Fast

By Trina Otero

  • Having health issues?
  • Not going to the bathroom regularly?
  • Are you very gassy?
  • Experiencing energy blocks?
  • Feeling sluggish?
  • Trying to jump-start your body?
  • Do you get migraines, headaches?

Haiii everyone! I wanted to keep this simple and short since this is happening overnight. I’ve pondered for a week about fasting, because I have been sluggish, experiencing some health issues and feeling energy blocks. Random conversations over the week showed me more and more that this should be a collective effort, because others are experiencing similar issues… A conversation tonight with a friend showed me that this is meant for the month of February! Which starts TOMORROW! So let’s get it!

This is what we are doing — we are going to do a Salt Water Flush tomorrow morning [Sunday, February 1, 2015]. I will include instructions below. This flush is going to prepare us for the Daniel’s Fast which lasts 21 days! [Pssst! I’ve created an online course from the Feb. Flush & Fast challenge, which is available for pre-order and also will be open for enrollment super soon! Right here: Akosmopolite University.]

Why Do A Salt Water Flush?

salt water flush

“Enemas and colonics only remove waste from the colon. A Salt Water Flush on the other hand, removes waste, including gas, from the small intestine. Also, the high quality salt used in a Salt Water flush can act as a healing agent as it works to normalize the pH throughout your entire GI tract. A healthy intestinal pH reduces the amount of bad bacteria, pathogens, viruses, and fungi that create all kinds of nasty digestive issues.

Salt Water Flushes can provide tremendous relief from digestive irritability, gas, bloating, cramping, etc. This is especially true when you do a Salt Water Flush regularly, or in scheduled sequences. Besides, it’s cheap, quick, and easy which makes it practical and doable for the average person.”

I pulled this info from and I HIGHLY recommend you check out her post about this flush, because she has great info and tons of advice! So click on that hyperlink there and read up! Not long at all. [[Hi Kim! I’m now following your blog, you’re totally awesome!!]]

Why Do the Daniel’s Fast?

I participated in this fast in January 2013, I felt divinely guided to do it. I was in the beginning of my Skin Healing Journey, along with focusing on physical healing. The Daniel’s Fast comes from the Christian Bible —

“When this vision came to me, I, Daniel, had been in mourning for three weeks. All that time I had eaten no rich food or meat, had drunk no wine, and had used no fragrant oils.” — Daniel 10:2-3 NLT

In simple terms, it’s a vegan diet for 21 days! [Boo to no wine 😦 ] It is totally okay if you are not Christian, this has nothing to do with religion. So this shouldn’t make you uncomfortable. Those in the Christian faith do participate in this fast and take on the spiritual component, which is to reflect and pray, and I actually did the same. “Entering into a period of extended prayer and fasting is like pushing the “pause button” on life so you can draw nearer to God.” — this is taken from, which is a great site with info about the fast, recipes, and more! My religious childhood in the Pentecostal faith slowly morphed me onto a very spiritual path that I am on… to where I do not claim any religious label and I am passionate about my purpose & my connection to the Creator/Universe. I will be taking time during this fast to pray and meditate. You can choose to join as well, or choose not to, and that is totally okay! We all have our own intentions for this flush and fast. [Want an alternate option other than prayer and meditation? Try the Chakra Detox Challenge!]

February 1st, Morning — First thing when we wake up, do the Salt Water Flush [If you choose to do this regularly during the fast, that is okay too. Make sure to check out the advice on]

February 1st, Afternoon/Evening — Begin the Daniel’s Fast [I will post the food list below.]

February 2 – 22 — Daniel’s Fast

February 23 – 28 — If you’d like to continue the fast until the end of the month, hooray! If not, perhaps we should use this last week as reflection? Give me your thoughts. ❤

Salt Water Flush Instructions:

  • First thing in the morning before food and drink.
  • Add 1 tablespoon of  sea salt or Himalayan salt to 1 Quart of room-temperature, filtered or spring water.
  • You can slightly warm the water to increase maximum results.
  • Hold your nose if you like, and take it down.
  • Try to drink the entire salt solution within 15-20 minutes. Champs who can guzzle anything, can usually get it down within 5-10 minutes. Others will vomit if they take it too quick. If you’re super sensitive, try to get it down with 30 min, or dilute the solution with more water. Also see below for more tips.
  • Drink another 1/2  – 1 quart of purified water within an hour after taking the salt solution.
  • Do not eat for at least a few hours and avoid coffee, tea, or anything that may be dehydrating. It’s best just to drink water.

****Very important that you use REAL sea salt or Himalayan sat. So please read Kim’s post about how to tell what is real, which again you can find this post here –>

I found a good looking snack recipe for Daniel’s Fast. It is Warrior Bars by Simple Green Smoothies. It has chia, almond meal, gluten free rolled oats, dried fruit, banana, pepitas, sunflower seeds, almonds, vanilla, cinnamon & sea salt.

I just did a 7 day vegan elimination diet and did the salt water flash on day 8. Thank you so much for posting about this Trina! It was divine right timing that put this info right in my hands as soon as I woke up day 8, thank you thank you thank you!

VEGAN RECIPES: I highly recommend The cookbook It’s All Good by Gwyneth Paltrow. It has many great vegan recipes that aren’t too expensive and are easier to make than most other vegan cookbooks I love. Check it out of the library if you don’t have the money to buy it. (My week long vegan detox was 100% based on recipes from this book.) Bonus: the recipes are also elimination diet too! (No wheat, no dairy, no processed sugar, etc.) there are also very healthy meat recipes in there. (I am vegetarian so I haven tried any of them.) Don’t let the fact that there are meat recipes in there scare you away! There are a LOT of great vegan recipes in there.

    Namaste ✨
