“There are two basic motivating forces: fear and love. When we are afraid, we pull back from life. When we are in love, we open to all that life has to offer with passion, excitement, and acceptance. We need to learn to love ourselves first, in all our glory and our imperfections. If we cannot love ourselves, we cannot fully open to our ability to love others or our potential to create. Evolution and all hopes for a better world rest in the fearlessness and open-hearted vision of people who embrace life.” ~ John Lennon
“When I acknowledge that Fear within me and choose not to run or hide from it, I am a little stronger and more able to uncover the robust potential of love underneath.
Drawing on Love for strength, I detect movement on the ends of the letter L as they curl and connect forming an infinity sign. For love truly never ends, nor does it die. It might become clouded and shadowed by my fears or perceptions of my own stories, but Love remains.
When I sit still with my deepest fears inviting them in, then I begin to see that what I fear most—loneliness and unworthiness—are not my enemies. By making friends with them, I remove their power over me. Underneath them I discover compassionate Love lives there. Releasing resistance, I find the courage to be with my fear.” ~ Melissa Smith, contributing writer on Rebelle Society
